He graduated in 1979 from Pertevniyal High School and in 1985 from ITU as “Ship Building and Mechanical Engineer”. He completed his master degree at Istanbul University Faculty of Management.

 

In 1993 he finished “Ship Maintenance and Repair Diploma Programme” in Belgium, in scope of United Nations scholarship UNIDO project.

 

In 1988 he started his professional life at Turkish Ship Industry Pendik Shipyard and carried out duty as engineer and manager at various ranks.  He continued the duty of Turkey Maritime Organization (TDI) Shipyard Managership after 2005 at IDO.

 

He took part in many national and international projects. He took part in the project team to construct the first sea bus, which is seen as one of the first steps to create know-know for Turkish maritime sector.

 

Suleyman GENC, who can speak English, is married and the father of three children.
